A Misdiagnosed Cervical Vagal Schwannoma: A Case Report and Review of Its Imaging Features and Differential Diagnosis. Advanced Ultrasound in Diagnosis and Therapy, 2023, 7(1): 53-56.
Figure 1
The gray-scale US showed a solid nodule with punctate calcification at the upper level of the left lobe of the thyroid gland (A) and a cystic solidnodule with multiple septums in level 4 of the left neck (C). CDFI showed abundant and disordered blood flow signals around the nodule and punctateblood flow signals inside (B). Short strip blood flow signals were detected in the predominantly cystic nodule (D)."
Figure 6
Longitudinal US of a schwannoma from left ulnar nerve (as shown by the thick arrow) with characteristic appearances. Continuity with thickened parent nerve is called rat tail sign (as shown by the thin arrow) and moderate posterior enhancement was present (A, B). Transverse color Doppler US in the same patient showed a few bloods flow signals around the tumor (C)."
Figure 7
The gray-scale US showed one patient presented with target sign of shank subcutaneous schwannoma (A).Microscopy manifested schwannoma is composed of Antoni A and Antoni B. The cells in area A are dense and grid like (upper left); However, there are few cells and loose arrangement (lower right) in area B (B). Nuclear palisading around fibrillary process (Verocay bodies) is seen in cellular area A (C)."
Figure 9
Cystic transformation into schwannoma is a relatively common ultrasonic feature(A). Microscopy manifested there is a hemorrhage area(right) in the schwannoma (B). The fat around the schwannoma is pushed to both ends and accumulated to form a triangular hyperechoic area (as shown by the thin arrow), which is called split fat sign (A, B)."
